Capoeira is a martial art that incorporates music, singing, acrobatics, and dance. It originated in Brazil centuries ago, created by enslaved African people as a way to express their culture and protect themselves. Today, it’s a joyful celebration of movement, culture, history, and community spirit.
A capoeira é uma arte marcial que incorpora música, canto, acrobacia e dança. Originou-se no Brasil séculos atrás, criado por povos africanos escravizados como forma de expressar sua cultura e se proteger. Hoje, é uma celebração alegre de movimento, cultura, história e espírito comunitário.

We are located at St. Matthew’s Church in Downtown Kitchener. NOTE: when the weather is nice in summer, we sometimes play in a local park! Please message or call us before joining a class during the summer to confirm where we will be.

***IMPORTANT NOTES***
The door to enter the church is locked. Instead of a doorbell, call our WhatsApp to let us know you’ve arrived. If you don’t have WhatsApp, email us ahead of time letting us know you’ll be attending.
The St. Matthew’s lot off Benton St. is a permit-only lot. Please park in the City lot off of Charles St. when attending classes.

Herança Baiana Canada
Herança Baiana Canada was created in 2021 by Mestre Xuxa upon arriving in Canada after training for 20 years with Mestre Dario in São Paulo, Brazil. In addition to group training and travel to other groups’ events, we perform at local festivals.
A Herança Baiana Canadá foi criada em 2021 por Mestre Xuxa ao chegar ao Canadá após treinar por 20 anos com Mestre Dario em São Paulo. Além de treinamentos em grupo e viagens para eventos de outros grupos, nos apresentamos em festivais locais.
